Battery choice

Hi guys, bit of advice needed. Am currently re building a 65 Li, the engine has had an electronic ignition conversion. I am wanting to fit a battery to power a couple of Pathfinders and was wondering if there was a low maintenance/gel battery available that would fit the standard battery tray as opposed to using the normal acid type and also if there was any pitfalls to going down this route

Alarm battery's are the usual route... can get them in a number of different sizes depending on space constraints.

Go into your local Maplin or Burglar Alarm retailers to have a look at sizes etc...

I have these in 2 of mine, fits a Series 3 battery tray nicely...

I just fitted a similar motorcycle Gel Battery to my ride for Adria and as a result I don't think I will bother with an alarm battery again. Although about 3 x more expensive, the terminals are much more robust and don't vibrate loose like the very small spade connections on the alarm batteries.

I had an alarm battery on my 65 Li, but the spade connectors kept coming loose. Swapped it for a normal bike battery with proper terminals. No problems so far.

If you want a battery that's a third of the weight of a trad bike type battery get one of these. I have DC conversion on two scoots and both use these.
