Hi folks, was after a bit of information regarding the Series 3 TV 200.
I've just been to look at one over the weekend and the frame number
has the correct TV3 prefix followed by a frame number 5490++ but the frame
is non chrome ring.I know that the very last few 200s and 175s didn't have
the chrome ring but were they changed this early ?
If anyone can shed any light on this it would be really appreciated.
Regards Mark

Frame number 549*** would have been one of the last according to the BLA.
1963: 520419 - 531505
1964: 531506 - 545182
1965: 545183 - 552776

Just FYI & not sure it helps (though I try!) my 1966 'D' registered TV200 has frame number 5516## so later than the one you are looking @, but is non-chrome ring. I've owned it since the mid 70's.
Excuse my ignorance as you seem concerned about the provenance of the machine, but these days, would anybody try to change a chrome ringer to a non chrome ring? (UK enthusiasts used to do this preferring the aesthetic of the non chrome ringer & also retaining the shorter headset, effectively lowering the bar height)
Nowadays, I would have thought the opposite practice more likely, though I personally prefer the non chrome ringer.

The reason I ask is I'm sure an old TV 175 of mine was around that number and had a chrome ring.
As both the 175 and 200s used the same numbering I would just like to make sure what I hope to be
buying is "what it says on the tin".
Over the past couple of years I've been offered a GP 150 with 125 DGM number, a GP 200 with a 150 DGM
number and frame number 2594++ dated by the VMSC and registered by the DVLA, a TV/GT 200 with an
IGM number and this week noticed an Italian Golden Special in Oldham, on Ebay, with an Li front mudguard
and horncast.
I may just be getting a bit cynical but I don't have that type of money to lose if it's a wrong one.
Would be nice to be able to say for definite and with it being a change over year it's not as clear cut
as with other models.
As 175s and 200s were taken off the line along side each other if anyone had either in non chrome ring with
numbers earlier than 5490++ it would give me something to go on.

It's worth bearing in mind that nothing is "set in stone" - and this couldn't more true of Innocenti.

Actually 175's and 200's didn't use the same numbering as 175's started at 500,000 and 200's didn't kick in until 520,000 so not exactly the same.
