Morning all,
I have got an engine casing that I got from a parts fair, so I do not know its history. Do any of you know how to find out the history of an engine number.
I would like to change the engine number on my log book so it is correct for insurance perposes but don't want to find out too far down the line that the engine casing I have brought has dodge history.
Cheers Guys

I'm not 100% on this, but i don't believe that engine numbers are used by the police for vehicle theft; they just use the vin.
It could however have been recorded as engine theft on its own in which case it may well be the subject of a report.
In a nutshell, I wouldn't worry about getting nabbed for a moment. If you haven't knowingly or negligently bought stolen goods then you don't have a moral duty to do anything either.
Go and have a pint.
