wrong manifold

I have fitted the wrong manifold, so i need to lower the front part of the engine to change it.
Do i need to remove the rear wheel to pivot the front of the engine downwards or is it best to leave the wheel fitted

If you mean the inlet manifold you should get enough wriggle room to remove it by removing the rear shock and letting the rear wheel rest up inside the rear mudguard. This applies to standard type inlet manifolds. I can’t comment on fancy reed valve ones though!

Only takes a minute to remove the rear shock and would make the job a whole lot easier. A little more clearance can be gained by removing the rubber bump stop.

To answer the question in the OP, no you don't need to remove the rear wheel, I've seen it done with the rear shock still attached too but its easier to jiggle things about if it is detached. Just remember, don't use a hammer to drive the bar back in, a rubber mallet is best if any hitting is required.
