One of the flat plates is welded on, the other... er isn't, the curve plates are intact but just really coated in Leyland Rouge but I can probably electro bath the removable plates but the bolts are mush and having some issues removing the big 10 mm bolt that goes from plate to strut.
Think I have done well, now only needing legshield and side panels to complete, this was supposed to be a year long project but I kind of got it all in a month hehe Quite surprised at how much Ser 1 stuff is still out there, this motor is like twice the age of my T5 and there is more out there for this than a MKI T5 specific parts wise

Colour wise I have decided I am going to go with a burnished and flatter copper finish then loadsa clearcoats, I bought a load to do my T5 with but changed me mind so got lots of paint lurking about and its a really nice shiny copper too which will be for the main panels and the finishers will be in the contrasting duller finish and pick out bits with gold or brass finish, I reckon it will look spot on
