Stud in France

Long story but limping home from Eurolambretta. Currently in Belfort, France.

I have a GT186 which, after a prang with an Italian petrol station pothole, has a bent exhaust stud. This is preventing a good seal and I have blown one gasket.

Thinking of taking the stud out in the morning, putting nuts on either end, and hitting the middle to straighten it.

Anyone any better ideas beyond trying to get to a precision engineer who can make one up at M7!!

If you could get access to a vice the nut on either end of the stud to protect the thread may straighten it enough
to get you home .

Citroen used M7 fasteners. I know this link is UK based but it might help you make a French mechanic understand:

The Citroen garage is near the hotel ibis in Belfort.
Garage Gresti. On the D83 as WT says they may have some NOS studs.

Screw two nuts on the stud and slip an 11mm socket over both ,then with an extension bar gently bend the stud back.

Is it on the repaired side of the flange ? If so I wouldn't try bending it back insitu

It's not the welded side and, no, neither of us have anything suitable, sadly.

I am still wary of trying anything in situ given that the exhaust flange has already been welded after this altercation with a pothole.

If you can nick the lower damper fixing out of the link from yours (or anybody elses!) forks you might be able to use that as they are also M7....

...or a frame leg bolt that are also m7.

Managed to get access to a vice on the campsite. Put the brass nuts on either end and a socket as a pivot. Straightened it Scoot all back together and ticking over nicely. Thanks again.
