Ive got one more quote from Custom metal polishers of Portsmouth so I have something to compare to as they were recommended to me by Allstyles who actually had a crankcase of a customers in the shop awaiting collection and I have to say it looked the business.

fair play.
I think alot of us believe in keeping original parts.
I bought a new petrol tank a while back because I thought mine was past it. but the new one turned out to be too small!
sent it straight back. also had a 'new exhaust' which was also crap.
original parts can usually be refurbed unless they are engine parts beyond wear limits. may cost but well worth it.

I have to agree with you, I will now always try and refurb originals, as for the Stand it works out £30 more to have mine plated along with my original brackets and splash plate than to buy new stainless parts that may or may not fit, then all the hassle and cost of sending things back.
