Yes it might choke it but standard GP150 is a 118 main and I would imagine moving from a standard pipe to an expansion would need a jump of anything up to 10? One of the BGM main jet kits at around £12 shouldn't break the bank

You are right. I had my mind wrapped around an LI/SX150.

Goes to show: some of us are wrong sometimes  !

I'll just slide off down to the song title thread; I'll do less damage there tonight.

Can anybody tell me what jets to try, or a kit even so I can get them ordered. Help would be appreciated. Staying on the Isle of Skye, you just can nip round to the scooter shop for parts as there are none .

What have you got in there at the moment; slide, pilot, starter, main and atomiser?

I have ordered jets for my jetex 118, 45, 5899’2, float needle, choke jet from Scooter Restorations. I am also getting a main jet kit from KMT, from 105-120 hopefully that will sort the bloody thing out. Any thoughts.

Did they have a slightly higher range?
From experience I have always found the Jetex needed a 48 or 50 pilot.
Sorry for all the contradictory info and I appreciate just how difficult it is not having a scooter shop around the corner.

She ticks over great, would a 48 or 50 be a waist of time, as I believe the pilot jet is for idling. Your thoughts please.

The pilot jet is for a bit more than idling. You'll be on the pilot at lower speeds.

What I am going to try is putting in the proper sizes of Jets, as been said before got knows what jets are in a Jetex when new, so if I put good quality jets from Scooter Restorations, that should be a good starting point, would you agree.

I agree. Another thing you might like to look at is drilling out the seat of the needle valve to get more fuel flow. I know from experience that can be a bit restrictive.

GP150 with 22mm carb has a 118 main as standard, i.e. with a standard exhaust, so for an expansion you will be looking at going up on your main jet not down which is why I posted a link to the 125-145 main jet kit.

Thanks for the comments.

Burnside mate ,
You would be happy for me to order 125-145 main jet kit.

I've got a Casa 210 and I'm using a jetex carb.I used to have a 48 pilot but I drilled the centre of the atomiser to 2mm and now I have to use a 45 pilot, because the 48 made it 4 stroke and choke up.It appears that the atomiser richens the mixture throughout the rev range.

Hi,
I was also told to go for 110_132 as that would be the ones to go for. It all gets very confusing.

kenny there is no point in changing jets if you are unable to warm the engine up to operating temperature and do some testing on the road .
i wouldn't recommend buying loads of jets you may not need.
The pilot jet is mainly for idle which you can check and set in your garden or shed with the scoot on the stand
. if you can get it to start and idle and the air screw is not less than 1/2 turn out or more than 2x turns out then leave it as it is it does not need changing.

There is no point in changing your main jet without first looking at whether your atomiser is suitable . All fuel and air passes through the atomiser and no amount of increase in the main jet will help if the atomiser is restricting the fuel and air flow.

If you want to order main jets then any 5mm jet will fit so you can use jets listed for motorbikes etc You can buy 12x main jets in a box for £12 i'll pm you the supplier.
If you need an atomiser let me know which one and I'll send you one FOC

your best bet is to take a short video of the scoot on tickover and revving on the stand so we can perhaps diagnose the problem and make some practical suggestions.
When it warmer i'll pop down to the IOW in my camper with my LiS 150 on the back and we'll sort it out .

start the scoot up, get her engine warm & ticking over with the filter assembly/airhose on the carb
gradually turn the choke on in stages to listen to the engines noise, if it cuts out then you're almost there with your jetting
if it races or continues to tick over then you're weak, richen pilot & or main jet
all this presuming your choke & airscrews set up correct? then take out & do plug chops!!!!!!!!! ;)

Hi All,
I got the new Jets today for my Jetex, 118, 45, 5899’2, float needle, choke jet, now running a lot better, on the stand. I will know for sure how she goes when I get her out of my workshop, and take her for a road test. Thanks for all the comments and help.
Cheers
