help with hydraulic conversion on winter model

I've bought an inboard hydraulic too, and I'm starting to worry if it'll even be as good my reverse pull drum.

I can see me investing in an outboard disc and handlebar mounted remote about a fortnight after putting it on the road.

I have an inboard hydraulic with remote cylinder under the horncasting and I love it. It gives me 1 finger braking and has perfect 'feel', without being snatchy or grabby. As such, don't be too quick to write such a setup off!

That may be the case but I hate hydraulics when they lack feel and become an ON/OFF affair. My inboard is an old DJ that I ran for a while on my cutdown, with bar mounted master cylinder, and it was a bit too ON/OFF for my liking. Rebuilding it with a hidden master cylinder actually benefited the performance and it is now a pleasure to use.

I used to service my Dad's PX disc and the front brake on that (stock factory) was NASTY!

I never really saw the need for a hydraulic front disc on a Lambretta until I started using the Indian 200 casings, which give such poor rear brake action that I've seriously changed my mind!

It's taken me a while with several projects on the go at the same time but I went for the bracket option.

It does seam solid! I just need to get a hydraulic cable to fit and get through a conjested headset & the turning mudguard.

Sorry it's a bit late for this but here's my Spanish S2 switch housing. It's a grimeca master cylinder welded to the Spanish housing (with trapezoid switch) by Mark Broadhurst and the caliper is also one of his old school outboards

Hi all,

I'm looking to fit another hidden system, having enjoyed the function of the first one so much, and wonder if you guys/gals have figured out where the cheapest outlet is for the Grimeca remote cylinders is? I've have a quick look online but note that there is considerable range in price. Any ideas on who is cheapest for new?

PS - I'll be looking to use one of the Chas-speed brackets (shown earlier in this thread) so need to keep to the Grimeca item, rather than change to Nissin or any other.

Have a look at the Oiltek hidden master cylinder Adam, they bolt under the legshields into existing holes on the front support cross bars. Very neat set up and you can put the reservoir almost anywhere for easy access to it.

i use the oiltek underboard remote masters on every disc conversion i do ...think you get a nice feel to the brake and not as harsh as a full hydraulic set up.....plus headset looks neater with no reservoir on ...
just done a spanish winter model with one ... looks great and no messing about with finding switches or bits on the headset as it looks stock
can highly recommend the oiltek kit

I did have some of those so it may have come from me originally. I'll have a look and see if I have any S1 / S2 left.
