Bought some scootRS tubeless rims which I intend to fit tyres to myself but I've just inserted one of the screw in type valves which came with it and it sticks up quite a way inside the wheel rim , has anybody fitted tyres themselves to these rims and if so does the tyre clear the valve without any problem or should I ditch the screw in type valves and get some push in ones ??

Are you talking about Scoot RS steel tubeless rims if so I've fitted my own tyres valves were not a problem

I think ScootRS recommend the screw in type now and moved away from the push in type

I was given a set of rims and made a jig for fitting tyres to these rims from half a rim with some box section welded so it cab be held in a vice - put some long bolts/extended nuts through the rim so that the tubeless rim can be mounted -makes mounting alot easier - I used two big tyre levers and some mounting paste I blagged from the tyre centre round the corner.

I had a pair of Dunlop k688`s lying around and used them to test it - Ive not used them but the they have stayed up.

I put Bridgeport style 90 degree valves in them. I had to cut a little bit out of the rim and flat off the face of the rim but they're still up.

I use the push in brass/rubber valves which I replace every few months by pushing the tyre off the rim enough to get to the valve hole. Pressure stays up well.

I intend to spend a fair bit there when I get to the stage of personalising once my Li is all built up, I bought a DM boot brake pedal from them at WSM for my T5 and it looks the biz as I plastidipped it in dark red.

Ta for the comments lads , I think I have found something to hold the rim steady whilst I fit the tyre , my old RAMP rear hub clamped in my workmate with the studs fitted wrong way round should do the job nicely
