fitting new 22mm carb issues.

Postby Lam Bretta » Fri Apr 27, 2018 11:59 pm

I have a 62 Li 150, with a Mugello 186, this had a 18mm standard carb on it when i got her, i have had her 7 years, and have decided to add a 22mm carb, i bought a scootopia dellorto version, and the GP 150 inlet manifold to fit the carb also from scootopia, so having removed the 18mm inlet and adding the GP 150 one, all seemed well but when it came putting on the carb, it did not fit, as the banjo hit the engine mount, now it would of made no difference if i took off the banjo or moved it, there was simply no room for the carb to slide onto the inlet manifold. i have read this has been an issue for a few other people, but not seen what they did to resolve the problem other than putting the old carb back on.

Some have said an original GP 150 inlet might help or to drill out the manifold holes so you can move the manifold outwards and or away from the mount.

Any Advice grateful.

i've found this to be a common problem.

i've just fitted a moggie 225 barrel with a 24mm jetex and it hits the head cowling near the engine mount.

you might be lucky and do an angled cut through the manifold and weld up in a slightly forward position, i had to get a second manifold and make a new one out of the two to throw the carb forward and up

Thinking of fitting one of these carbs to my li125 alterd to 175 is the problem down to manifold or carb making or the various engine kits. Thanks.

It must be the manifold, because innocenti fit dellorto sh22's on GP 150's and they didn't hit the engine mount. This is a picture of a 24mm carb, but its the same size as an sh22 https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch& ... AQrEQD7QwM:

I’d have thought the Mugello barrels may well be the issue here. I may be wrong though.

I think there is a manifold with elongated holes so it can be used on either 150 or 200 studs. I think Cam Lam used to do them, and funnily enough I think they were intended for the Mugello kits. Maybe that would give you a bit more wiggle room?

have to agree in my experience, i've fitted 4 different moggie kits over the years and none will except the standard manifold and carb without modding.

most peeps of course don't use a 22mm bolted on carb so they don't have this problem
