Hi, I've just rebuilt an LI125 with a 150 gearbox. I'm unable to get fourth and there is room behind the tie rod so that's not fouling the shock mount. Any ideas??

Are you having trouble finding fourth via the gearchange on the handle bars or can you not engage it when pushing the arm at the top of the engine?

I've rolled it around with the plug out and pushed on the tie bar and it still wont go in. As said I'm fairly sure there is room behind the tie bar. All the gears went in in the correct order and the (new) sliding dog moved freely when built. Thanks in advance

Could be the cables are too tight from the gear change and not allowing it to move enough.
Try slackening them all off and see if you can then jiggle it into 4th, if not its engine out and have a investigative look IMHO
I always adjust all the cables after ive put the engine into 4th

Thanks. I'm beginning to wonder if the wishbone is on the incorrect spline internally? I would have thought though that if it was it could be corrected at the top? Time to get sticky's out again

If it’s original LI you should be able to undo the pinch bolt and lift the gear arm off and move round a spline to suit , sometimes you need to take the rear hub off to do this .

Also worth checking that the gear cables haven't come out of their correct seats (top and bottom), as this can make the outer cable artificially long, which affects your ability to select the gear correctly.
The other cable issue can be that the "spare" inner cable (beyond the trunnions and swivel) gets pinched in the bottom mount when the rear shock is fitted. This is more common on clutch cables, but also happens to gear cables.
