Ignition switch.

Original sil switch stopped working everything apart from the hi lo switch.
Got another one bit better rear light works hi lo
and Speedo.
So I got enough to get thru mot.
Thing is the ignition switch only operates any feature on last position.
Are these things serviceable?.
Any recommendations for a decent one.
I found cost is no guarantee.

I just found last night mine has an issue with the rear light feed on the last position. If you wiggle the key it sometimes works but not reliably.

Jem Booth will service them for you, he did the one on my GP, but replacements are much cheaper than refrub unless your really precious about your original one...

I'm going to try the Scootopia one next.

Replacements are hit or miss.

I've got a Scootpia one, it works and seems good quality but is a bit vague, it kills the engine half way between off and the 1st click, and can be temperamental (needs a wiggle) at times in the other positions, nothing worse than your headlight going out when riding down a twisty country lane on a winter's evening!

Opened my old sil one today, its really simple inside .
Just wished I marked the positions first.
Mine had slight wear and some green oxidation on the "feed strips"
Opening the thing with out destroying it is the biggest challenge. It's made a of crumbly base metal, but think I got it sussed.

I have always found the Casa switch to be very good. Don't think I've ever had a problem with one.

How did you open it?

on my sil one there's three points around the case that are punched into the plastic inner body.

by squeezing it in a vice it it releases it.
like i said mark all the parts before hand as i now have 6 possible cobinations.
also look out for the ball bearing.
