Technical help for Series one, two and three Lambrettas. Models include the Li, Li Special, TV, SX, GP, Serveta and API/SIL models

Swapped the boss on a flywheel, mainly to avoid adding to my Lambretta themed door stops. I’ve drilled and tapped the flywheel and backing plate on the new boss and used high tensile M6 button headed bolts (with thread lock). Should I also use a nyloc nut on the inside? There might just be enough thread to get one on.
Cheers

I don’t know, but I think a nylon would hit the coils and make a mess of the stator.
Try one nut, and fit the flywheel, very carefully.

I also did the same as you Gaz. Nyloc’s to the outside. Less chance of nuts flying off and destroying your stator !

Cheers Gents. Just swapped so the nylocs are on the outside. Just need to get the engine out and swap the crank now!

What's the point in nylocs?
The main issue is shear strength which 10.9 screws have in spades. Studlock adresses the issue of screws vibrating out.

The technical answer to that question is ‘because I’ve got some’

First one I did I used a kit from SR that had nylocs, so just continued with the belt and braces approach

Flywheel sorted. Just waiting for a replacement mag housing as I damaged it getting bearing out! All I wanted was the seal retainer
