Steering Wobble GP200

Any thoughts welcome on what could be causing a steering wobble on my GP200 as it's currently got myself and my mechanic flummoxed. It's progressive if I let go of the handle bars (I know, don't let go of them then!) and have tried a few of the usual suspects and trying to avoid having to remove the forks. Tyre pressure correct; headstock is tight; taking the dampers off doesn't cure it. Thoughts?

Tighten the 2 halves of the front hub together by the inner nut on the spindle. This is a common cause.

PS - Then don't forget to do up the outer link nuts too as the hub may have closed up.

Check rear hub for tightness,if loose it could be - rear hub bearing, the bearing on the endplate,or a loose endplate.

As above endplate bearings .... just had a similar problem with mine , changed wheels , hubs , engine mounts etc and it turned out to be my layshaft needle bearings had disintigrated .

my engine mounts goin could only be felt on a long straight rode or on bends @ the rear end :?

i had a rear hub nut thats wasnt full threaded once , tightened up with usual torque setting , by the time i had ridden 60 miles the front
end felt like it was rolling side to side .as the nut/ cone were getting slacker.
bought new rear nut , rolling sensation gone.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, going over to my mechanic tomorrow hopefully and will run them past him - pretty shit at anything like this myself so will refer them to the expert and let you know what he says. To add to what I'd already said, as long as I don't let go of the bars then she's very ridable right up to and including top cruising speed, the wobble only really sets in if I let go though of course you can feel it beforehand. Cheers, Neil

If the suspension is original or the forks haven't been rebuilt in a long time then it could just be down to fair wear and tear. In which case, have them rebuilt by someone who knows what they're doing.
