Found the thread for one of my stator bolts knackered. Is there enough room for a Helicoil?

As luck would have it, I'm doing a rebuild for a mate and one of his is gone. The mag housing is off, so it's easy to check before I go bumbling in. I'll let you know tomorrow if you can wait that long.

Sama as above, easy job using one of the cheap ebay kits, had to do one when I built my GT240 a couple of years ago and thats been to Adria and Soria since.

Seems a bit pointless now, but, yes, it's easy.

How long is the bolt you were using ?
Measure the depth of the hole ,there could be some thread left in the bottom and you may get away with just using a longer bolt and some loctite

Probably run into problems with the nuts fouling the flywheel as they would be higher by the thickness of the stator

Obviously you would have to make sure the studs are the correct length, this may involve trimming with a grinder and you may need to use shallow nuts, I’ve got some very shallow m6 nylocks here that would ideal.

Peachy wins a virtual pint.
Finally getting round to put the engine together and with a bit of measuring and a longer bolt, there was ample thread for the bolt to hold properly.
