Poor cold starting RT 195

Postby Watto66 » Thu Mar 12, 2020 1:10 pm

Hello looking for a bit of advice . Apologies if this has been covered

Purchased a GP last year fitted with an RT 195 , 28 dellortto with foam filter ,BGM clubman ( new fitted by me ) new BGM stator flywheel and CDI engine was rebuilt by previous owner who's had lambretta s for years . I'm getting very poor starting when cold if left for a few days it takes multiple kicks ,choke appear to be operating freely , carb was rebuilt ,new plugs etc . When scoot is used daily its not to bad ad performance is ok ,not a missile but quick enough to commute which is what I used it for. I have borrowed a compression test dial gauge because I'm beginning to think it may be a worn ring/cylinder issue I cant seem to find what the reading should be for 195cc in PSI ?

many thanks

Could be something as simple as plug gap, don't mean to insult your intelligence though.

What type of carb and size of choke jet ?

Compression tests are ok but probably better to strip down, have a look and take some measurements…...who knows what sort of life it's had :?

When was the last time you cleaned your filter and is it one that requires oiling?

Was the new Clubman a like-for-like replacement?
