Oiltek hydraulic reservoir

Hello all. I’ve bought an Oiltek hidden reservoir in order to give my front inboard disc brake a bit more oomph. The fitting instructions show fitment to an outboard one. Can you use it on an inboard and can someone explain how to do it please? I’m not mechanically gifted, but would like to try fitting it myself. Thank you

I assume your inboard disc has at some point had a hydraulic conversion?

No it hasn’t. Have I bought the wrong thing?

I'm afraid so. The Oiltek hidden master cylinder / reservoir is for hydraulically operated braking systems. Your brake must be cable operated. A reverse pull cable conversion may improve your inboard front disc brake but alas the hydraulic reservoir will have no benefit.

You can get a pop in hydraulic slave cylinder that goes in the same hole as the cable actuator and is held in place by the circlip. Frankly they're a bit hit and miss it's better to get it converted properly for hydraulic operation if anyone still does it. MB maybe. But that is a one way process and you might think twice about doing that to an original brake.

You can buy the backplate with slave cylinder fitted on its own.

I think beedspeed do them for around £100.
