Hi all I have 2 problems
1) when trying to kick over my series 3 li150 I can hear a scraping from the engine area, tried moving the piston with the fly wheel and no noise (As I thought maybe a piston ring had broken), so probs gearing, clutch or is there any other area I should check first...it kicked over fine for a couple of weeks then the noise started? Or should i remove chain case and chain which may give me more of an idea where it's coming from.

2) on another scoot I have dismantled the engine but when starting to rebuild I stupidly did not centre punch the gear selector so not sure of position it should go back in with the gears. Is there a method of getting this correct again or just trial and error.

Will it start ? Are there any noises if it does. 1st gear teeth may be badly worn. As for centre punching, go on Youtube Lambretta restoration.

Your kickstart pedal may have come loose on the splines of the kickstart shaft or the bump stop part of the kickstart may be catching on the chaincase or exhaust tailpipe(if your using a clubman exhaust) As for centre punching the selector,I've never had to do that.

Check to see if the shaft circlip between the kickstart and the seal is still there. If not, then the shaft can move in and scrape on the outer clutch plate.

As a follow up scooter will not start at present when I push slowly on the kickstart by hand I can hear something in the casing. But when I turned the flywheel there is no noise so I was presuming nothing coming from big end, but if I remove the chain I could then separate the 2 areas which isolates one from the other. Just a pain taking clutch out unless as suggested clutch is catching on something.

On the 2nd part of my question..in case others have the same problem,a certain supplier in Doncaster says on their site that if the gearing is left in 2nd gear the gear selector should be fitted at 90deg to the casing. Took me a while to find that info but hopefully it will work.
