I am just ready to paint my jl3, what is the best quality paint .

BBQ paint works well

There is a brand called VHT that have a series of products called "flameproof" and is classed as extremely high temperature paint and do in a range of colours, finishes and even clear coats, far from the chalky insta-flake stuff I used to use, I don't know what the heat range is of the exhaust under heavy riding but you could also get titanium coloured wrap or bandage for the U bend which looks pretty good for older tatty 'zorsts.

I was sceptical about BBQ paint being better than the paints sold as being very high temperature and specifically for exhausts. That was until I tried it a few months back and it is. The instructions say to cure it by firing up the BBQ but it seemed to cure itself after a few runs.

Or you could have it coated in ceramic.I was going to have mine done,but I bought a chrome Taffy so no need now.Company are called Cam Coat I think.They even do a Chromish finish.

I've tried various hi temp sprays , nicest finish is probably Wurth's but still burns off, latest is B&Q's BBQ aerosol which is a flat black but seems to last longer on the U pipe.

I sand blasted my AF Clubman and sprayed it with satin wood burner spray, not a bubble after 45 miles. Made by "Firestorm" and goes to 1300 degrees. A nice flat finish.

I had my BGM Clubman Cermakromed by Camcoat and very please with the finish, not the cheapest but worth it if you can afford it

I know this thread's a few months old, but I'm interested to hear how your BGM Clubman is holding out with this finish, as I'm debating what to do with mine that I'm just in the process of fitting.
Dare I ask how much it cost to coat yours? Any chance of posting a pic of it?
Anybody tried and tested any silver BBQ paint on their pipes with success?

Hi Nelly,mine is still unused as i am in the middle doing a resto.I have posted pics in "show your ride"under Daves Li Resto.I cant remember the cost,but if you go onto their website,all the prices are on there.95.00 rings a bell.

That's a nice finish, very much like chrome.
Did the exhaust assemble ok once it was coated?

Yes,it all goes together fine.Havent fitted it yet as my engine is in a squillion bits,but I am confident it will be ok.
The finish isnt as"chromey"as chrome,if you can understand that,more of a milky chrome finish.Looks good though.

Thanks Dave. I know what you mean, it will never be as shiny as actual chrome.
I may have to look into this. No major hurry, the engine is still on the bench.

Sorry only just seen this post. Here's a couple of pics, it has done 2.5k miles in all weathers and I've not even wiped the exhaust over yet, I keep going to give it a deep clean and 'store' for winter but keep finding an excuse to ride it lol Cost was as Dave said £95, but I also had a couple of other parts done at the same time

Yes I'm pleased with it, the blemishes and marks you can see are on the surface and can be cleaned off easily enough...I just haven't got round to it yet
