So what does the new 'sloping side' clubman do that the original shape doesn't? Is it just a better fit or is there a difference in performance?

As far as I can tell,it just gives you a bit more ground clearance.

Royspeed were doing that in 1970, people thought they could go round race tracks faster with more clearance to the road. Used to watch them slide off at Lyddon Hill

A collection of Royspeed parts, including his special exhausts, plus cones etc.

A word of warning, the latest AF version is quite hard to fit,
I had problems fitting it even with an AF 225 Rapido (no packers, just a standard base gasket).
The older type just needs to elongate the bracket holes to fit.

The engine was for a poseur
In my opinion the best looking clubman type exhaust with great clearance and impressive performance was the ealry Ron Moss clubman.
Too bad that Ron stopped doing them.

I haven't seen one in the metal yet but what's going on with the tailpipe? Does it go up at the end of is it just the way the pics taken?

I fitted one last week, revs to 7.200 on the motorway. May even rev on a little more on a good day.
Never used the other af clubman, so can't compare.
But revved to 7.500 with a sito ancillotti.

My AF Clubman's pipe only just fits inside the box by 1/4", bad fit ?

Is this 1/4" with the manifold bolted on the cylinder? In this case the manifold might have been shortened.
If you can't fit the manifold in the box, you'll need to clean the paint from the manifold or check if the box entry has become oval.

The new syle clubman U Pipe looks much better than the old style, it slightly shorter which could help it rev higher and seems to keep its original diameter down the entire length of the bent section not like the old pipe.
Has anyone seen any back to back testing of the old V new ?

I think that's the Ron Moss , JL collaboration.
Eagerly awaited by everyone especially Ron Moss.

Yes, let's hope that this is the Ron Moss Fran JL clubman finally going into production. My 2 Ron Moss clubmans have served me extremely well over the last few years and I'm even more impressed by the 1 prototype that was on display in Belgium, which Ron has put some miles on since.
Fingers crossed.

I have recently seen both prototypes, and there back in the hands of Ron, now languishing in the corner of his unit collecting dust and cobwebs.
After hearing the final stories of relentless let downs by company's who promised to manufacture them for him.
I tried to no avail to buy them from him, only to be told they have become the white Elephants of his life, and how he wished it had never gone this far..
So don't hold out hope for the new version as I cant see it happening..
Unless your a small time fabricator/welder who's looking for some pocket money & prepared to manufacture them to Ron's spec then we might all see our wishes come true.

I did a couple of hundred miles on the prototype case induction engine with Ron's "supertourer".
Match made in heaven.
