Jet / Lince stands

Did the later Jet or Lince frames ever come with just a side stand ?. I bought a frame many years ago and although it had holes for a centre stand, there was no evidence of any bolts ever being fitted. It also didn't have a 'peg' on the frame strut to hook the spring onto. I had to weld a peg onto the frame strut so that I could use a centre stand.

I am not sure about a side stand, Geoff, but I do seem to recollect that the really late Orbars did have a straight kickstart lever and a slightly different stand. But, it must have had a spring :?

If that is the case, and that sounds plausible to me, the spring may have been a totally different set up.

It is different and not as late a development as you might think - my 84 has the late 22mm stand and the straight kickstart.

The spring is much bigger diameter also more like a Vespa one and hooks into a loop in the stand and onto a hook under the rear side footboard. I have seen these on some that still have the S80 / SX type headset too.

I'll take a couple of pics tomorrow if it's dry.

Rossclark, thanks for that. I was actually given the bare frame by a friend ( obviously a good friend ! ) and I couldn't figure out why it never had a peg for the spring to hook onto. I had to weld one on.

That's a great help. Obviously, my frame never came with the rear footboards. That's an unusual arrangement for the stand and one I haven't seen before. I hadn't seen a tubular brake pedal with a longer spigot on the frame either until I got this one. You live and learn. I'd stick my neck out and go as far as to say that these frames / machines are far superior to their Italian counterparts.

Yes mine has that brake pedal and the short straight kickstart too.

Does it also have flat plate welded to the near side rear foot board support?

Yes, it has. I have my regulator mounted on there. I made a bracket for the kickstart side foot board support and mounted my CDI on there. I'm rubbish at posting pictures on here so I hope you understand what I mean.
