Hi, I have fitted a 12v kit and i have a problem. When kicking over I don’t get a spark but when I kick it over holding the frame I get a good belt from it. What have I done wrong ? Thanks

Have you checked to see if you trapped a wire when fitting the stator?

The spark is sometimes very hard to see....(once in a garage, doors closed, lights out, pitch black...no spark... but fired up first time !!).
Basically there may be a spark, you're just not seeing it.

There is no spark coming though at all even when holding my finger on it. As soon as I kick it over holding the end of the spark plug and holding the frame I get a really good whack of power.

Sounds like you are providing the earth path back to the frame via your body.
Just get a piece of wire and make a solid connection between the engine and the frame. Doesn't matter how pretty it is but it must be electrically sound, just to prove the point. Clean any paint or rust off your chosen connection points.

It sounds like the HT lead is trapped somewhere and the insulation has gone through.
