I've seen some posts on FB about a system using a similar reflector unit to the Jockey's one but with a latest technology LED that gets good reviews so possibly the one you have seen, 35 watts would be nearer the power consumption I think and you would need DC. Im still plodding on with Jocky's plus £5 HID from ebay which gives an amazing light and been on for about 5 years now

I've got an HID / Jockeys conversion on my Jet, which works very well and has correct beam alignment. I get my share of complements from fellow riders.
Not so good in the rain though. With these cheap bulbs, the wire insulation on the 23kV lead gets compromised when it gets wet! This results in no headlight at all, right when you need it. I would advise that anyone doing an HID conversion also does a wet simulation test using a distanced pressure washer to confirm reliability.

I've just come across these focused LED bulbs, which look like they may fit and work well with a Jockeys H4 headlamp.

No massive heatsink at the rear or remote ballast to contend with.
Seems like they are sold only on a BOGOF basis.

Those of you with HID lighting have to use them with a lamp/lens such as the Jockey conversion because the OEM fluted lens & reflector are not compatible.

The LED replacement bulbs are capable of working with any set-up, aren't they? Or have I got that wrong?

I hope not as I bought a fan assisted pair in a Sally Army charity shop to try. They would mean relocating the OEM headlight wiring junction within the headset, but the fan itself is not that bulky.

The only issue I can foresee is the polarity which only affects the fan direction* Whether the fan works as well pushing air over the body of the unit, rather than pulling it remains to be seen.

I haven't fully thought that bit through yet, but the 'mask' that adapts the LED body to the headlamp has locating tabs on a diameter just marginally bigger than the SIII bulb holder orifice so the Scootopia OEM type reflector now has matching alignment slots for a snug fit. The modification will not affect the unit's function should it need to be fitted with an OEM bulb holder if this all goes t1ts up. I will consider whether to slot the mask later for the addition of the bayonet parking/town bayonet bulb & also check for focus (if there is any!)

When I did my first HID conversion I just cut the high voltage lead and spliced in some standard vehicle wire albeit with heat shrink ver the joints and have had absolutly no problems over 4 or so years its been on there. Its been through some blinding rain showere too I can tell you. That said, I have since found you can buy proper extention cables with the correct waterproof connectors on.

Keep me in the loop with those LEDs though

To be fair. my total lack of wet weather shorting issues with the original lashed together installation could well be due to the orn casting being GRP as its a Series 80.

Mine burn't a neat arc hole right through the cheap chinese silicon insulation.
I ended up doing the same thing by covering it with a couple of layers of heat shrink to improve the dielectric strength but...........I still don't trust it in the rain.
Thankfully, I very rarely ride in the rain and even less so when it's dark and raining. I've tolerated it until now but the technology has moved on considerably in the last 6 years since I did my HID conversion and LED seems to be the one that will ultimately win out?
