So, put my sx150 together, but have gear selection issues....

First run down the garden, all fine...BUT, couldnt get it out of gear... disconnected all cables and tried moving the gear selector at the engine end by hand..

Sometimes I can find gears, mostly not

So looks like a complete stripdown and take a look

layshaft?
Gear selector arm?

Suggestions as to where to start looking, please

Built a fair few from scratch, no issues, but this gearbox is untouched

This is not a diagnosis or a cure, but when I have had this problem I have been able to select neutral by twisting the grip into neutral WITHOUT USING THE CLUTCH.

Obviously, the scooter still has to be moving when you do this (such as rolling up to a junction or traffic lights), but it is usually easy to do.

What does this prove? Dunno

Thanks, Martin ... problem is now it's all over the place, even trying manually using tje tie bar .. sometimes i can get a couple of gears, others, it wont budge, sounds like there's a knocking when doing this from inside ... oh, well, stripdown today

Good call & something I will admit to falling foul of. It's not necessarily the balls being over-sprung into the cursor making them 'stiffer' to move, but the cursor legs actually spring outwards that causes the issue.

I am curious. Did you get to the bottom of this problem?
