Afternoon all,

I am fitting a new kickstart shaft and return spring to my 66 series 3 special, when turning the shaft in a vice to the ramp it goes solid and won’t go any further, am I doing anything wrong?.

Thanks in advance

I think there have been issues before with the spring.

Like everything remade for Lambretta these days, the spring may have been made 'too tight'.to operate. It is a torsion spring that is wound tighter as the kickstart lever is actuated. Too small an inside diameter means it is restricted by the alloy boss that it fits around & can go no further. There may have also been springs for other than SIII that look very similar.

If you have an old 'proper' spring you should be able to prove what I suggest..... :)

If the old spring works, keep it in. It's never going to wear out or weaken

Some SiL shafts have been know to have the spring hole drilled in the wrong place.
Are you using the correct spring? Series 3's are different to series 1 & 2's

My apologies for the delay in replying Lads,

Managed to get the shaft, and new return spring fitted along with a new bigger shim on the outside.

On to the next thing....
