S2 Side panel fit - advice please

Have a S2 and the side panels aren't a good fit to the frame.

The fit seems to be getting worse - to the extent that 1 panel came off last year (no significant damage thankfully)

Being honest the panels are a bit battered & bruised (scooter hasnt been restored) - but would prefer to keep original panels rather than buy new panels and have shiny paintwork.

The panels lock in position at the back handle end - but you can almost lift them off the front end.

Panel rubbers are 1 year old.

Satisfied that the frame is good - the opening at the bottom between fuel tap & the panel clip is consistant with other scooters

Looking for some advice on techniques how to improve the fit. I've tried tweaking / bending the panels a little - but without a stratergy I'm possibly making them worse not better.

Is it possible that the rear of the hoop has been nudged forwad slightly? I had thid on a Spanich slimstyle, took some measurements off another scoot and it had become bent in about 1/2".

Many thanks for the replies - much appreciated.

I'd checked the frame loop dimesions - but only at the bottom. It is possible that its slighly skewed somewhere - but looks straight to the eye.

Have added an additional bit of padding ontop of the buffer on the frame leg which appears to have stiffened things up and put the panel under some tension in the middle. The panel was barely touching the buffer - so maybe the scooter has been on its side at some point and the leg is out of position. No intention of stripping down to get the frame jigged for a while - so fingers crossed this works and doesnt actually make the panel fly off quicker with the tention applied !

If the panels are battered maybe they've been flattened out a bit, thereby making them longer?
