Strange Clicking - Spanish 150 Special

Postby Bobf » Wed Sep 28, 2022 8:07 am

Hi All

I am refurbishing a 1969 Spanish Series 3 Li 150 Special. All is going quite well. However, checking the gearbox side I decided that there was no need to strip the gears, but replaced the clutch. On the hub side, new hub, brakes and layshaft oil seal.

Hear is the problem when I rotate the hub in neutral there is an audible clicking sound, in forward and reverse directions. I have checked all obvious areas such as kickstart binding, breaks etc. The clicking is there with hub on or off. No keen to strip the gears down unless I have to but will be guided by the more experienced.

So, any suggestions? on what it might be? As the scooter has been laid-up for many years the wheel bearing may be the problem, but it rotates freely and has no discernable play.

I do have an audio file of the clicking but cannot seem to attach it to this posting (maybe I am doing something wrong).

All advice appreciated.

Cheers

Bobf

Hi Not as far as I can see. The clicking does appear to be at the bearing side.
