What is the best way to remove the NU 2205 inner sleeve from a GP crank. Stickys book refers to a tool sold by lincs lambretta has anyone tried these ?. Reluctant to use a grinder as I know I will mess it up, I have access to a MIG welder so thinking of welding a larger ring to the sleeve and using a three leg puller. Obviously need to protect all the surfaces. Does this work well ?

I also use a 3 legged hyd puller after some heat & a ground groove in race to grip onto ;)

When using the grinder method it best to fit a jubilee clip around the oil seal journal as a just in case.
Grind a flat on the inner race but not all the way through.
With the crank shaft supported on a solid surface strike the flat along its length with a cold chisel and it will fracture, allowing you to pull it off by hand.

To save buying two, ie LI and GP cranks, I use a longer bolt for the shorter LI taper
