Anyone got experience of these for winter riding, I'm due a change and was considering these for those wet leafy days ahead...

Opinions good or bad please.

Absolutely brilliant Warren. Been using them for 2 years now on 2 scooters and believe me I have ridden in some wet conditions this year. Seem just as good as Weathermans which I also rated before all the delaminating scares and also the Dexters which I thought were the best all rounders ever.

Thanks Rich', that's what I was hoping to hear.

I've used them all year Warren so they have endured the Davos downpour and a few other wet rides without a skip.
However - they are only good for 1500 miles so Dom cries into his tea as we've gone through a fair few this year

Thanks Darlo', good to know. The Davos downpour I remember well, thank heavens for the occasional long tunnel....

As others have said they are spot on in wet weather, but I also agree they don't last long on rear. I'll be using them again over the winter months.

Thanks FT, I'll get some ordered today.

Used them for around 4yrs now without issue, they were and are still I believe the wet tyre of choice on the race circuit. Be careful though because they do come in a soft race compound and a harder road version, the race lasting only a few hundred miles, I often use the softer compound on the front.

Just a slight note of decent, for me the 2 ply sidewalks seem too flimsy for a rear tire and that is born out by their low load rating. I have one o. The front of my scooter and have no issues with it but the rear has had a ContitwistcSport and now a Dunlop Scootsmart both of which have a high lad rating and high enough speed rating. The Sava/Dunlop combo coped very well with the Davos rain too.

Yes I can understand that Colin however I am only 11st' wet through and never ride two up so am happy with the load rating for me.

An alternative is Heidenau K58. Similar tread, 3 ply sidewalls. The sidewalls feel much sturdier than the MC20. I have done about 3000 miles on these tyres ( the rear has been replaced) and I will be getting some more soon. Just an alternative anyway.

Thanks for the input gentlemen. I must admit I didn't really consider load rating but I've pressed the button and the tyres have arrived today. I'm 17 stone on a really good day but no pillion and just a man bag for work usually.

I have the Dunlop Scootsmart on the rear at the moment and it has done really well, Davos rain etc, just had a couple of wiggles this week when pushing on round corners and braking a little too hard for the conditions. Just though I'd try a change and see. No doubt in the Spring the Scootsmarts will go back on as they don't seem to wear down very quickly at all. If the MC 20's are not up to the weight, what are the signs of trouble?

Don't get me wrong, the tyres will be well able to carry your weight, it's just that they are basically a tyre designed for track use and the lightweight construction and low load rating would result in the tyre overheating if run near its max loading for any length of time or speed. If it deflated the lightweight construction would collapse down to the rim pretty much instantly whereas a 3 ply side wall MIGHT hold the tyre on the rim for a vital few more seconds.....that's my thinking anyway, that plus Mypol tubes filled with Slime and at a highish pressure.

If your riding is mostly around town, I wouldn't worry about it tbh.

Raced on them going quite fast wet and dry and used them on the road for some time. Highly recommended tyres but the reports about the wear rate are correct.

Thanks all for the advice, a couple arrived last week and I have fitted one to the rear to try out. The Scootsmart I took off was running a little thin, but a great tyre and happily fit new one of them in the Spring.
