Hi all,

Have fitted a 17ltr long range tank, the type that allows you to use a toolbox of sorts but I can no longer fit my carb as it is too long & catches on the petrol tank, has anyone else encountered this & has a solution, apart from knocking the crap out of the tank or reverting back to the original. Any ideas/solution welcome.

Not sure if this is more suited to the carb section, apologies if that is the case.

The tanks were the toolbox can be fitted a more mid range at about 12litres.

To fit a big carb you need the one the with cut out on the appropriate side.

Have you got the one without cut outs??

Some come with cut out both sides.

Ive fitted a few and like the AF Rayspeed one with a full height cut out both sides as it allowed better cable routing

Thank' for the reply 8-)
it does have the cut out on the carb side, it just isn't deep enough for the tmx to fit on the carb rubber, the rear of the carb butts up against the tank.
I don't want to return the tank (too late now probably) and I don't want to destroy it either, thought of using an extended carb rubber, but I can't get the side panel on then!

I had same problem with mine I bought a longer rubber of eBay and it also pushed onto panel when it was clear off the tank I trimmed a bit off the rubber and it was spot on ,

I think your best bet is to take the tank to a good welders and get it welded exactly to your requirements.
Thats what i had to do with mine even though it was supposed to be a standard mid range tank.
Might be £100, but it will be well worth it.
Cheers.
