Good evening everyone.
hope some one can assist , the offside footboard is fouling the panel on the kickstart cut out flap where if meets the foot board , causing it to pop off.
just had it repainted and want to prevent a occurrence. the exhaust is a Avanti ST and i do have off-center engine cones.
it is running a r1 rear shock ,but from my way of thinking as the shock is mounted from the frame to the engine this can be the cause , can it .

Have you checked the travel with the rear shocker removed to see if it’s catching anything is it a series 1/2/3

I had/have a similar issue with my JL3 on the GP.

When the suspension compresses the panel hits the nylon mount.. I did half a job & still need to make a new bracket so it's completely clear.

i am not sure what is meant by check with the spring , for sure i will take the spring off and have a look , but i don't know what that will tell me , but always happy to learn.
as the exhaust is a clubman , there is no nylon bush on the silencer mounting bracket.

As the length of the shock absorber (spring) dictates how close the bodywork gets to the engine, a longer shock absorber (such as S II) gives most clearance. A shorter shock absorber such as S III &, I believe, the R1 results in far less clearance.

As suggested, to check for total clearance & modify the exhaust/mounting to prevent fouling, the shock absorber should be removed entirely whilst supporting the rear of the frame, usually with a car jack placed under the number plate area. With the panel fitted, the jack can be used to slowly, carefully lower the frame/bodywork & assess the clearance problem.

I’m surprised the Avanti exhaust causes any issues with the panel as it’s shape & manufacture is based upon the OEM S III & even those with the additional muffler should be fine as the muffler is ‘under-slung’.
