6v cables 12v motor

Postby shane BBoys » Thu Aug 14, 2025 10:19 am

Hi.
I have just dropped a 12v motor in my Spanish series 2 which has the original loom in, can this be used with the 12v motor, if so which way do the cable go?

Cheers Shane.

Shane, I'm not sure what you mean by '12v motor'.

It's the stator that dictates what voltage you can regulate to. Assuming you have a stator with coils in series, which means it works with 12v, then you'll need to start by changing your bulbs and regulator. Probably horn as well, although you may get away with leaving that.

The stator connections are usually/often the same. What colours are the wires from the stator?

Hi.
Its an Indian stator white from stator to white on the CDI
Yellow from stator to red on the CDI
Green from the stator to green on the CDI.
I will be changing the bulbs to cope with the voltage too.

Cheers Shane.

It'll still be green from the loom to the cdi to the headset.
still be brown from loom to the rectifier to the headset
good luck Shane
