Just bought the above, but it has a horizontal fixing plate that should bolt to underside of the gearbox, but I have nothing to fix it to, do I leave it or cut it off ?

There should be a threaded hole underneath, possibly the bolt has broken off flush

it could also be that the engine is early enough that no hole under the crankcase was drilled/tapped by the factory

my series 3 TV175 never had an exhaust mounting hole

I think you can drill the hole and tap it with the risk of breaking through and creating a handy, but unwanted, auxiliary oil drain hole, or do as I did and chop the bracket off the exhaust

I’d just leave it on. It won’t do any harm and would be useful if the exhaust later gets fitted to another casing.

On the other hand I had a weird vibration with the bracket knocking unfastened against the bottom of the engine..
Off it came ;)
