Rebuilt motor… new casa lay shaft, new balls/reg spring, new selector, Indian gp200 gears, ne mb selector arm, old clutch, sae80 oil. Gear box is selecting fine but when in neutral and kicking over it feels like it’s in first, lift rear wheel and wheel turns as in neutral. Put back down kick over and it lunges forward like in gear.. any ideas what to check/change. Gear cables are loose so it’s not cable error… thanks.. been at this 3 nights changing gearbox, clutch, selector and more but same problem exists

When you built the gearbox did you check the selector dogs have plenty of clearance between 1st and 2nd when in neutral? I’ve had this happen a couple of times when using a mixture of parts from various brands. When you kick it over and pressure is applied to the gears it can cause the dogs to catch.
