Me again after help,
Does anyone have any ideas why when I put front brake on and push forward the wheel leans to one side? I woukd expect it to move up into the fork equally and parallel.
Both springs are the same length, everything else looks to be ok.
Are the springs prone to becoming weak?

The only time I had this was when my Indian fork links had warped and the fork links became out of plane. That was caused by welding damper mounts.

I’m assuming that your links are original Italian TV links so I doubt that is the reason.

I think you are going to have to take the forks out and systematically go through your build. Did you replace the bump stops, Pete?

Were the rod stops metal or plastic ? Did you remove or replace as Paul says I think you will need to strip to check and find the problem

check the length of each spring, are buffers in the correct way round?

And thank you Paul, I have the forks stripped ready for paint. There is a little slack in the link bolts, not sure how much is acceptable but I’m intending to rebush etc.
I’m trying to keep as much of the old, or what I think is genuine old, of the scoot as I can, therefore holding back on throwing the springs and putting new in. I remember Paul your comments about series 2 springs, but.
As I’ve got the forks stripped ready, I wanted to get your experienced advice on what may be wrong.
The cups are possibly original metal ones with a plastic sleeve.
It was more looking at the mechanical reason one fork/spring should compress more than the other making the wheel leans when holding front brake and pushing down.

I meant to ask, what is the original length of a series 3 springs, I’ve tried to check the compression lengths by loading each spring but it’s proving difficult.

I can only say what I did on my TV175.

I reused the original fork springs and rods (one did need straightening in a vice slightly). I used the original links after having them chromed. I may well have cleaned up the spacer caps and reused them but, in reality, you may as well fit new ones.

I definitely did not reuse the fork link bolts and bushes, the spring stops and the buffers. They were all way too worn out.

When you are rebuilding the forks, in my opinion, do it in a vice with the links at the top. Once, you have them built and before you put the hub on, get a metal rod that fits between the fork links. This will help you assess whether the links are in plane.

My mistake Paul, saying you mentioned S2 springs. It was Wakton Tornado.
