Exhaust rubbing against head cowl
Evening all.
This is an odd one. Fired up my 175 today after refurb bits etc, sounded bloody awful, I’m gutted.
It sounds as if something is loose but nothing is loose. Seems like a lot of vibration, new Cambridge Lambretta mounts fitted, new cones and bolt.
I had it rebored and new piston, but nothing else engine wise.
The only things I discovered was that the head cowl was tight against the downpipe and the exhaust box just behind the inlet was tight against the head cowl. Removed head cowl etc and ground away some clearance, as to exhaust box, the only fix for this was to pack out the bracket with washers.
I never remember having this sort of problem in my youth, or did I not care.
The other funny thing was when I fired it up without the box on, it seemed smoother,
I haven’t ran it since the above alterations, tomorrow for that.
The TV175 engine is suppose to be smooth, mine isn’t,
If anyone has a magic wand, can I borrow it please.
