Side panels

Could someone please tell me how the lip on The side panels should look. I am trying to dry fit all my panels to check for alignment and having trouble fitting them. I have new rubbers fitted and wondered should the lip be rolled over, and that fits onto the rubber. Or have mine been damaged and should have a bigger gap for them to fit over the rubber. I hope that makes sense

Just had a quick look at a set of GP, SX and Series 2 panels and they all look pretty much the same.
Have you got the rubbers on the right way ( I've seen it done ) also are the side panels from that
scooter and if not have you fitted them without the rubbers first just to get an idea of the fit.

They are the original panels, and I think the rubbers are on the right way they fit on the lip well. (I've refitted them twice to be sure) I will try the panels without the rubbers and see how they sit.

What I maybe should have said was are you sure the rubbers are fitted completely over the frame lip and aren't
riding up and stopping the side panels from sitting into the groove of the frame correctly

Some rubbers, especially the cheaper indian ones are very thick and make a huge difference to panel fit.
Make sure you have good quality, well made rubbers to help.

I've used Tutto rubbers the last couple of times and found them to be excellent quality,
didn't have to loosen them at all, just fitted them dry and they are a cracking fit and look
really well too.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have tried again this morning, fitting the panel handles and after a few goes on and off they are fitting much better now. Maybe it was just tight on the rubbers and they will wear easier with time.

Next question, I fitted the rear panel frame clip. I have been following a blog (lambrettarestorations.blogspot.co.uk) and it shows a small tab that the clip fits under. I do not have this tab, so when I fit the panels the clip moves, because it isn't held in place. Is this right?

A lot leave the tab off,or if one is fitted bend it out of the way.It makes changing the back wheel easier,you just push the panel spring down out of the way so the wheel wil come out easier

The rear panels clip will be held in place once the panels are fitted. It's fine.

I was waiting for someone to spot that! I am waiting for the bushes before I fit the mud flap properly, hopefully should be here this week. I was going to start a new post detailing some more of the rebuild
