Atomic Pressure Plate Help

Can anybody help.
I will be putting my clutch in tomorrow evening and have come across what may or may not be a problem.
When checking the clearances on the clutch prior to soaking the plates, I noticed the hardened centre (gp type) is not solid and is free to turn by hand.
Now I would expect this to be solid and not to turn, as it could wear at the non hardened top of the pressure plate, which over time would fail.

Can anybody confirm if it should be solid or should it spin?

If solid I will take to work and put a blob of weld on the underside.

Perhaps an equally valid question would be "Is there any problem with a rotating centre" or "has anyone had any problems with a rotating centre"?

This might just be the way they are.

I think the MB one with the interchangeable centre held on by a circlip will rotate. Don't hear any issues with those (ducks...)
