Hi,
Due to be getting my new (old) restored '62 Li3 in the next couple of weeks after having had nearly 20 years away from riding (usual story; settling down, mortgage, marriage, work and other related nonsense being to blame for my pause in scootering). Just thinking about theft etc. as I once disturbed some cretin stealing my custom, dare I say Vespa in this forum?, who then simply dropped it onto the pavement having already scraped one panel down the house brickwork prior!
Does anyone have any experience of Tracker / similar GPS devices / systems being installed and their success. I've looked through the forums but can't find anything.

PS. I'm still bitter about that attempted theft by the way.

I quite like the idea of permanently fitting/leaving a mobile phone hidden on the scooter. The phone can be registered and then tracked when stolen (various companies offer this service).

Seems simple and you have a spare phone if the need arises.

I haven't tried a GPC tracker device but basically all you need is a transmitter and receiver and they are cheap enough.
What about something cheap and cheerful like this .

of course ! do a search on google or ebay.
I'm sure a 3g card would work just as well but you'd need to check as I say I haven't used one myself but it looks like a very cheap option

looks like a nice cheap option if it will work hidden inside a lambretta with panels on
might give it a spin for the price

will try putting my phone inside the scoot later in the week and see if i can contact it

GPS tracker wont prevent any of these problems,it'll just help you catch the perpetrators quicker.You need something like a completely conspicuous CCTV,lots of locks and a light,to put thieves off before they have chance to cause any damage.

or tie a big dog to your scoot

i have a motion detect shed alarm plus a motion detector alarm on the scoot the its chained to a ground anchor plus floods on the garden like the idea of a tracker as well in case of theft when out and about rallies etc

Cheers for your responses, a couple of good ideas there and certainly cheaper than Tracker, BikeTrack etc. I'll look further into it.

Oxford GPS motorcycle tracker ...just google it ...saw this at the Motorcycle show at Excel ....earlier in the year ...looks impressive ...I actualy bought one but as yet not fitted ...will be on there soon tho ....not a big unit either ..

the oxford tracker is probably a much better quality item but you are paying nearly 10x as much .!

I suppose the beauty of the cheaper version is that you can buy several if you have more than 1 scoot and its not such an expense if you lose it or need to replace it.

How much does your scooter mean to you? £200 albeit plus subscription, doesn't sound too bad to me. You get what you pay for in this world. The fact that it has a long life battery is a major selling point to me.
