gearbox problem

I have given my sx engine a complete strip and rebuild but on starting the engine I am getting a chattering sound coming from the gearbox. It sounds like two cogs are just slightly touching, it only makes the sound in neutral but when I pull the clutch lever and put it in first gear the sound disappears. As far as I am aware the gear box is original, I just must have something wrong. Any ideas please?

did you replace the rear hub bearing if so did you check the gap between the shim and the end plate if its too big it will give the gears room to move also have you checked you can find all gears

Hi thanks, yes kickstart, when I first stripped the gearbox down it had a gp endplate which I thought was strange so I changed it for the right one, but it kept sticking so on my last post I asked if anyone had seen it on an sx before, but as it is a 68 model and just before the gp came out I thought it was possible so changed it back which has stopped it from sticking, but if it is this, wouldn't it still happen when in first gear? yes I did change the hub bearing and did re shim it and it seemed fine but worth a second look. yes I do have all the gears
