I have possessed a Lambretta Workshop Manual since '78. Over the years I have flicked past the page where it shows how to take a standard rear shock apart - "I'll have a go at that one day" I thought.

Well, today I decided to do it for the very first time with my Vega shock and, to my surprise, it worked very easily:



I did plan to get it powder coated, however, I'm not sure I'll be able to get it back together with the usual thickness of powder coating. So, I may just paint it up instead.

Just thought I'd share this as it is dead simple

Well, with hindsight, I perhaps should have done a YouTube video complete with my Scouse explanation, you know like those American DIY ones you stumble across on such exotic topics as "how do I fix a leaking cistern?"

From this position, all you need to do is push down on the fork compressor and the shock basically separates itself as the collats [sp?] (on top of the vice in the picture) fall out.

The simple things in the Lambretta world should be celebrated
