SIP Fast Flow Fuel Tap

Postby spud » Mon May 18, 2015 1:20 pm

Was just going to order a SIP fast flow fuel tap & noticed that they do 2 versions.
I have one of the mid range fuel tanks (looks standard, but extends to where the air filter box used to be), so do i need the standard or the 90 degree version?
I would have thought the 90 degree version would slow the rate of flow through it?

cheers Folks.

I have the 90 degree one with the low fuel sender. I have a similar fuel tank to you.
I've just had to get in touch with SIP as the tap had become very stiff to turn and had started to leak from the tap housing.
This is a pic I took to send them of it, you can see how the 90 degree exits. it seems to have plenty flow.
SIP are sending a replacement out as it's only a few months old, so good customer service there.

The low fuel warning is a good idea. Whilst a proper fuel gauge would be nice, the low fuel light comes on when I have around 4-5 litres left so gives a good warning.

The rear exit versions are preferred for right hand side carbs (TS1/RB etc), it tends to keep the petrol pipe from potentially being snagged between the bump stop/frame (a tip is to attached a 'P' clip to your rear mudguard, and route the petrol pipe through it).

The picture above suggests a rather sharp curve in the petrol pipe, where as maybe a normal exit petrol tap would be more suitable for a left hand side carb? (Just my opinion).

I can see what you're saying Toot.
The pic probably makes the curve look more severe than it is.
The problem I had with the bottom exit tap was the pipe rubbed against the flywheel cover, you can see the mark where it had rubbed the coating away in the pic.
