Hi,
I've recently rebuilt my engine for the first time following sticky's book, etc. It's gone pretty well but I've been suffering jumping out of gear in mostly second but occassionally thrid gear. It's not every time and seems that after it's jumped around a bit it eventually goes in and stays in until I change gear again. I didn't replace the sliding dog when I rebuilt it so does this sound like the problem? I've tried adjusting the cables but it doesnt feel like it's the cables causing it, though I could be wrong. My next idea was to open up the casing, check the endplate and after that replace the sliding dog.
My main question really though is can I replace the sliding dog with the engine in place and back wheel on? After spending ages messing about I just want it sorted, so if anyone can give any tips on the easiest, quickest, least disruptive way to get in there and get it sorted it'd be really appreciated.
Cheers.
