Yes, I have when I converted to H4 but you will need to use an LED rear lamp otherwise it will dim substantially when you brake. The light output is much improved and if you use an Osram Nightbreaker you will get even more light output.
I then opted for one of the Jockey's Boxenstop clear glass and modern reflector headlamps which also use H4 lamps and found that their 35watt lamp was as good as the 60/55 one in mine. I'm not sure if the Boxeys unit will take the heat from a 60/55 lamp as it's all plastic but in my case I decided to fit an HID unit, here's a link to my thread on the Scooterotica site

Thanks Colin for your reply .....My fault I didn't make myself clear...I was aware of those upgrades ......but didn't want to change my original fittings .....the original Bosch Ba20d bayonet fitting in Halogen that I'm using in 35/35w is available in 60/55w ...just wondered if anyone has tried them ?

I upgraded to a H4 using an Osram nightbreaker 60/55w. There was a noticeable improvement in output and was worth doing.
However I have since changed to the Jockeys Boxenstop 35/35w with the modern reflector.
This gives a more focused output which I think is better than the H4 conversion.
Jockeys do not recommend fitting a higher wattage due to the plastic lens.
On both of the above I used a led rear light and led speedo bulb.
