Gearbox Tolerances

Postby rexwedge » Sat Jul 18, 2015 7:14 pm

Renewed all the bearings and sliding dog in my rebuild. Changed the loose gears from pacemaker to Li150.
The Gear stack with both sets of gears is level with the layshaft and all tightens up when the endplate is fastened down.
Pulled in the shaft and have a 1.6 min end shim. Smallest I have. Casa Hub bearing .Is this the problem ?

Cam Lam list a 1.6 shim and say it helps with casa bearings. So you are probably looking in the right place for the cause.

Have the layshaft skimmed so it sits lower than the gears otherwise it may still lock up or cause wear on the shim or endplate.
