Looking for some pointers please - Race Rapido 225 , 30 mm delly open mouthed - 122 main- 55 pilot - 40 slide - X13 top clip - 350 float needle - MB Clubman - LI150 box 47X16 - Indian static ignition at 17BTDC, squish 1.3mm, mid weight flywheel, good plug colour.Goes great on the flat,up hill struggles, unless I've got a good bit of momentum I have to drop down to 3rd, even 2nd on some times.I even changed the gear ratio today to 15X46, no difference  Am I looking at a fuel problem? prior to this I have in the last 6 months changed from a 48mm clubman, changed the float needle from 300 to 350 and added a Kytronik PiFi pickup filter (the red fuse thing that goes between the red wire and the CDI).Basically the same set up with the 48mm clubman, 300 float needle & no kytronic pulled like a train.Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated.

You may have answered your own question.

If I understand properly, it's never ran well with the MB Clubman fitted.

If that is the case, it would be my main suspect.

Do you still have the 48 mm clubman to substitute?

I would agree.
Probably the MB clubman?
I tried one after an NK road expansion ( for the looks) but it held the engine back.
Put the NK back on and it flies.
My engine is TS1 225, 30mm Delly, bgm stator ignition, dyno tested to 23 bhp so I'm happy now
Running 18/46

Cheers
Ady

Stuck rings ?

I had a similar problem after 1000 miles running-in on a new build. I suspect the gentle running-in didn't allow all the oil to burn away and I ended up with a "gunged" up top end. Gave it a good clean and after the running-in period I rode "with a vengeance" and the gunge never reappeared.

Just a thought......

Thank you chaps, have checked the rings today all good, checked the carb & fuel flow all seems good. I did notice the floats were out a little so adjusted them. Then put the 48mm clubman back on, took it out for a spin, normal service resumed :D ,took it up a few hills pulled like a good un (also changed back to 16X47). I'll keep the MB clubman for something else I've got planned, for my style of riding it didn't suit me combined with the race rapido having to rag it everywhere got to be a pain. I think probably the MB clubman released the potential of the kit, which up till then the 48 mm clubman perhaps kept in check, I don't know.....anyway lost a bit top end now, but where I want it it now pulls fine.Been putting up with it as was for a while but with Derby next week I knew I had to get something done.Appreciate your help
