won't rev

Postby Teglease » Mon Aug 24, 2015 5:52 pm

Help' I've just rebuilt my lammy engine with new 12v ignition to replace the old 12v one. the problem is it will only start on full throttle but won't rev, I've checked the timing all ok it's running a 28mm delorto carb, It was running ok on this set up for 1500 miles before it broke down which is why I fitted new electrics, the crank has only done about 1500 miles,
Anyone have any ideas please

Staring with throttle full open is a trick Someone once showed me to start a flooded engine. If that's the only way it will start then could it be the choke is engaging properly? If not then you might be flooding it hence why it starts like that. What happens when you Rev? Bogs?

although new, possibly a dodgy stator ? have you checked the resistance readings on the stator ?

hi' thanks for the responce
it was like this which is why I changed to a new 12v, it won't rev it will only start at full throttle and struggles to maintain firing at a tick over speed, i'm now fitting a new cdi to see if that helps, it started fine this morning and reving so it does appear to be intermittent, i'll take it for a test later if it ever stops raining
