Original Tool Roll Spanner Query with Photo

The tool in the photo below is in an original tool roll I have - can anyone identify what it is used for and which models require it? The hex fitting is 10mm. Thanks.

Actually, thinking about it, it must be for the oil filler/level plugs? If so, anyone know when they changed from this tool to the normal allen key tool? Thanks.
