Scooter Trailers?

Postby 911hillclimber » Sat Aug 29, 2015 12:47 pm

Soon be looking to get the TV3 MoT'd.
I don't want to ride it to a station, but there is a good station used to classics in Stourport, Reeds.

To get the TV there will need a trailer.

The trailers I have found to hire for the day are all for motorcycles and have a front wheel loop to take the front and then add tie-downs.

Has anyone put their series 3 on one of these trailers?

Yes, we have.

We usually add pipe insulation around any steelwork to make things fit, if necessary.

The tying down bit is the hard part with Lambrettas, because you can so easily bend or even break the control rods which is the logical place to strap to.

In fact, we have a rough three bike trailer up for grabs when I get around to photographing it!

Whereabouts are you as you can borrow mine, if it helps.

Jeezuz! I must get rid of some of our stuff! I've just remembered there's also a rack to fit tow bars of the 'two hole' type. Custom made by Dave Cooper.

BTW. You will regret selling the TV if you do! Us poor people have to justify expenditure, but what's your other hobby? Oh yes. I remember. Not quite banger racing is it?

Sorry, I am outspoken, but the offer of help stands.

Thanks for your reply, 'outspoken' no problem to me.

I'm over in the outskirts of Wolverhampton close to J10 M6.

The Tv has to go to make room and some ££££, my main hobby certainly is not banger racing, just a money pit...
Will be very sad to see it go, but hope it will be well used by the next person.

I might call Reed's and ask if they will collect, MoT and deliver it back, prob cheaper and more efficient this way.

Probably is cheaper to get Jerome to collect.

Ironically, as you sent your response, I was ariving @ Lifeline (Stoke) having driven up from Peterborough. But then you or I would have had to get the trailer back to mine.....

Think you are right, I'll call him next week. It is good to have a target date right now...
I'm maybe 2 to 3 weeks away from the test, but could be sooner as I don't need side panels for the MoT.
